Cullen Diana Madeline is one of Australia's most iconic and revered wines — a benchmark Margaret River Cabernet blend that stands alongside the country's greatest reds. Named in honour of Diana Madeline Cullen, the matriarch of the Cullen family who helped establish the winery in 1971, this wine is a testament to over five decades of biodynamic farming, natural winemaking and an unwavering commitment to expressing the unique character of the Wilyabrup sub-region.
All Cullen wines are grown on a certified Biodynamic, Carbon Neutral and naturally powered estate. Grapes are harvested by hand on fruit and flower days according to the biodynamic calendar, and the wines are made with no additions of yeast, acid or malolactic culture — true natural wines that express the land, the vintage and the people who tend them.
The Diana Madeline is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Very deep crimson in colour with a perfumed, complex nose of violet, blackcurrant, cassis, sweet cherry, bay leaf and an attractive lead pencil oak character. The palate is full-bodied yet reserved and controlled — masses of fine, mouth-coating tannins and firm acidity provide the structural foundation for decades of development, while blackcurrant, cassis, clove and cedar flavours sit tightly wound, waiting to unfurl with time.
This is a wine that demands patience. Cellar for 10 to 20 years to witness its full potential.
