Penfolds Grandfather Rare Tawny Port is one of Australia's most iconic fortified wines — a Fine Old Liqueur Tawny of extraordinary depth and complexity, crafted from a solera-style blend of aged Grenache, Shiraz and Muscadelle sourced from South Australia. Produced by Penfolds in the Barossa Valley since 1844, the Grandfather undergoes extended barrel maturation averaging 20 years to develop its signature tawny amber colour, rancio complexity and luscious dried fruit character.
Deep tawny amber with an olive rim, the nose offers concentrated raisins, prunes and toffee with notes of walnut, rancio and oak. On the palate it is rich and complex with flavours of Christmas cake, dried fig, butterscotch and spice, framed by a smooth, spirit-integrated texture and a long, warming finish.
Volume: 750ml | ABV: 20% | Average Age: 20 Years | Style: Fine Old Liqueur Tawny | Region: South Australia
Best served lightly chilled or at room temperature. Pairs well with blue cheese, dark chocolate, Christmas pudding and rich desserts.
